![]() Do you find yourself running out of your Highlander Flex Dollars halfway through the semester? Do sometimes miss dinner and wonder where to eat? Metz has got you covered in both areas! Apart from the freshly packaged food options available in Java 101, students can participate in meal exchange at Big Al’s. Meal-exchange is offered to students who have a meal plan and did not eat dinner in the dining hall. The menu includes a variety of options that are made fresh to order. From 8:30 – 9:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, students can count on a meal to keep them going. If a burger or vegetarian burger isn't your thing, we have other options too! Try the buffalo chicken sandwich, or the burrito/bowlritto and pick your own toppings! Another tip for students, every meal plan comes with Highlander Flex Dollars that can be used in Big Al’s and Java 101! To keep track of your flex balance, ask the cashier for your receipt. If your running low on flex dollars, simply purchase more flex and save! Hope Barnes, a student worker in Big Al’s / Poblano’s (an addition to Big Al’s that makes burritos and tacos) commented how meal-exchange “gives student-athletes the chance to get food even if practice causes them to miss dinner in the dining hall”, and in this case, they would not need to pay extra. This is one of the many examples of how Metz at Houghton College accommodates guests who miss a meal due to class, work, or other commitments. We recommend going to Big Al’s early as possible to beat the lines, and if you had dinner in the dining hall the same day but wish to order food from Big Al’s, all menu selections are available with flex, cash, or credit from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM daily. Can’t wait to see you there!
